Artist's Description
I found this cairn in the most unexpected section of trail. We were hiking in the Needles section of Canyonlands National Park on a very hot day when we dropped into a slot canyon. The day instantly got cooler in more ways than one. These cairns guided our way through the maze of slots and back to the trail head.

I am a photographer currently living in Athens, GA, but I prefer to be found in the woods. Or swimming with sea turtles. My photography centers around National Parks and wilderness areas with a broad range of regions, including the Smokies (the closest park to me), California (Joshua Tree, Death Valley), the West (Zion, Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce), and the Pacific Northwest (Redwoods, Crater Lake, Mount Rainier). I visit 5-20 parks every year and countless other recreational areas.
