Artist's Description
We spent several trips to Yellowstone where we saw only lackluster sunsets. We started thinking maybe it wasn't a sunset park. And then on one trip in 2019, we got caught in the park in an afternoon storm. After the rain cleared, we saw a huge double rainbow over the vast hillsides in the park. The rainbows gave way to what felt like a storm of rainbows as sunset burst throughout the sky. We spent that night chasing the light and got this sunset view from the Blacktail Deer road in the northern part of the park.
About Kelly VanDellen
I am a photographer currently living in Athens, GA, but I prefer to be found in the woods. Or swimming with sea turtles. My photography centers around National Parks and wilderness areas with a broad range of regions, including the Smokies (the closest park to me), California (Joshua Tree, Death Valley), the West (Zion, Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce), and the Pacific Northwest (Redwoods, Crater Lake, Mount Rainier). I visit 5-20 parks every year and countless other recreational areas.
